Yarn Along - December 22nd 2010

Another Yarn Along Courtesy of Ginny :)  You should go check out the other entries!

This one was a bit tricky.  I finished my Filigree Cardigan the day after the last yarn along, so I really wanted to post it for this week.  But trying to get a photo of it that does it (and me) justice was HARD!!

This was as good as I could get it, which is to say, not very good.  And there are no books in the photo.  But that's OK, because this week I am working on something new.

In fact, some of my reading is also involving it.  Yes, I have been tatting!  You can see two pieces there I have made- the bottom one was me practising.  The top one I actually followed a pattern!  I have another one I am in the middle of working on, which is located next to my tatting shuttle there...  It is a bit hard to see though!
The other book, by the way, is part of a series by Kat Richardson involving a Paranormal P.I.   It's a rather enjoyable series so far.

I thought you might be interested in my knitted garland to boot.  Well, it is decorated with knitting anyway :)  You can see a few pieces from Little Cotton Rabbits there, plus a Saint Nicholas I made myself, a Simply Knitting Gingerbread Man (last year's magazine) and the miniature stocking I made up.

Now my hand hurts (LOL there CAN be too much of a good thing) and I am sure I have vastly improved my mouse skills!

Created in GIMP.

A Visit from St. Nicholas

I have had the inkling to do some 'visit from st. Nicholas' themed pages in my journal.  I scribbled this picture in the car while waiting for DH, then coloured it later with my acrylics- that has been a fun learning curve ;)

Yarn Along- December 15th

Another yarn along... another day.

this week I have two finished objects to post...

A matinee cardigan I made for a toddler.  I adapted an Elizabeth Zimmerman baby pattern... well actually I used her increases to make up my own cardigan LOL but went with the 'gull stitch' lace pattern she mentioned.  I was very pleased with the way it came out- especially since I had to do an afterthought buttonhole.  That's a pain on a small cardigan like this!

And a miniature Christmas stocking.  This too is my own design- commissioned by a friend for a project idea I have in mind.  This is the prototype which will eventually sit on my knitted decoration garland :)

On my needles now- well on my hook is the filigree cardigan and I am planning to start Alan Dart's fairy mouse :)

As to what I am reading- well I still have Harmony and the Creative Space book on my pile... but my novel has changed to a Heather Graham one, and Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island has joined the lot!

Santa Baby...

Another journal page- this time messing with my (cheap) acrylics.  There are some things I really do prefer about acrylics- but that is a whole 'nother learning curve :)  Good thing I enjoy that huh?

Yarn Along

Oh this one looks like fun! Ginny at Small Things is hosting regular Yarn Alongs... and I figured I'd participate :)

Here is what I am doing:

Three current books to read- Harmony by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, Creative Time and Space by Rice Freeman-Zachery and Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews. The first is HRH's argument for how we should live our lives in harmony with nature, the second is about creating creative time and the third is an Urban Fantasy novel :) I love Ilona Andrews ;)
Now for the knitting- the green is part of a secret Christmas decoration idea I am working on. The pink is a lovely matinee coat I am knitting for a friend's little girl :) That's my own design so I hope it works LOL

I have finished a whole lot of knitted things recently, so I'll post some pics of those.
And I wanted to clarify a couple of things about our trip to England- the photos of the wedding were from the fabulous wedding photographer NOT me ;) And I pinched one or two of DH's pictures too!

Back to the knitting:

Henry. I made him up without a pattern, for my nephew.

There are two hats I made I can't show because of family. You can catch them on Ravelry though...

Both sides of a mitten I designed. Alas, it is too small for the intended recipient, so I'll set it aside to add to my store later ;)
